Kilkenny’s path to the final
No vintage performance, but Cats are back in another final
Kilkenny secured a record sixth All-Ireland final appearance in a row last Sunday, when they had six points to spare over Waterford.
Team and fans must clear Deise hurdle before thinking of final
Kilkenny head to Croker on Sunday for a semi-final showdown with our neighbours Waterford.
Saturday opening at Ulster Bank
Ulster Bank today confirmed it will open its Kilkenny branch on Saturdays following a strong response from customers to Saturday opening at its existing 58 branches, which have served over 75,000 weekend customers since its launch last September.
Kilkenny’s solid performance leaves us with plenty of hope for the year ahead
It’s amazing how a Kilkenny supporter’s mind works. Making my way back to the car last Saturday evening after the Cats had dished out another hammering to Wexford I asked a few fans for their thoughts, thinking that an 11-point victory would have left them content, how wrong I was.
Kilkenny can leave the Dubs singing the blues
In recent years Semple Stadium has become the spiritual home for the National Hurling League Final. Geographically it probably suited all participating counties. Kilkenny slip quietly into League Final as Dublin grab all the headlines
There was so much drama in last Sunday’s final league action that the GAA hierarchy could be forgiven for doing a U-turn on the reinstatement of the semi-finals that was passed in congress last Saturday.
Kilkenny’s spot in final gets closer with draw against Dubs
Kilkenny 3-11, Dublin 1-17
Dublin’s old failing of not converting possession let’s Cats in for a draw
There were only two parties rubbing their hands with pleasure after last weekend’s strange round of league action. Those were the Tipperary management team and the GAA authorities. Tipperary sent out a statement of intent with an emphatic victory over Galway at Salthill. As for the GAA they will be delighted that at least four teams are still in the hunt for a league final spot when the last round is played in a fortnight’s time.
Cats back on track affter defeating the Déise
The Cats returned to winning ways in the Allianz Hurling League, defeating Waterford in this fifth round Allianz Hurling League game in Nowlan Park on Sunday last. Kilkenny started well and enjoyed the better posession in the first half and deservedly lead at the interval by 0-10 to 0-6. A Shane Walsh goal in the 51st minute followed immediately by an Eoin Mc Grath point saw the Déise edge ahead by two points but Kilkenny showed good character and responded well and thanks to goals from TJ Reid and Colin Fennelly they remain on course to figure in the closing stages of this year’s League.
